Vernon C. Carter, 70, of Toledo, OH, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017. He was born April 20, 1947 to parents Norval and Evelyn (Wittschek) Carter.
Vern worked out of Local 45 for many years before retiring. He was proud to have served with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Vern loved the out of doors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and was an avid golfer.
Vern is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Patty (Bomia) Carter; sisters in law Paula (Dale) Norman and Pamela (Raymond) Sprague; brother in law John (Kathy) Bomia; Nieces Ann (Brian) Freeman and children Brian Jr., Brett, and LeeAnn; Ashley (Scott), and Amy and her children Caleb, Becky, and Noah. Nephews Richie (Kelly) and children Addison and Bailey; John (Julie) and children Caroline, Johnny, and Maddie; Michael (Kali) son Jayden; and Ray Jr. (Nichole) and children Tyler, Austin, and McKayla. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Shannon; and Nephew Dale Lee Norman.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, Tuesday, May 30th from 4 – 9 PM. The Funeral Ceremony will be conducted at the Westgate Chapel, 2500 Wilford Road, Toledo, Wednesday, May 31st at 11 AM. Vern will be laid to rest, with Military Honors at Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville.

Vern was a quiet gentle soul. We will miss him so much but rejoice in knowing that he is now dancing with his daughter in Heaven, and we will see them
