Joyce Elaine (Davenport) Mathewson

Joyce Elaine Mathewson, 89, of Lambertville, Michigan passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at her residence. She was born January 4, 1928 in Grand Rapids, MI to Clark and Ethel (Estelle) Davenport, Sr. Joyce married Jack Mathewson on September 17, 1948 in Sylvania, OH.

Joyce was a bookkeeper for S. A. Storer and Sons for thirty-four years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Bedford Senior Center. One of Joyce’s greatest delights was watching and interacting with children.

Joyce is survived by her sister Kathleen (Frank) Raymond of Texas, many loving nieces and nephews and long time friend Beverly Frankforther. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 2005; her sister, Donna Hamblin and brothers, Clark and Roger.

The family wishes to thank Phil Neal and Tony Gilbert for their loving care of Joyce for many years. Joyce saw Tony as the son she never had and they enjoyed a fun, loving relationship.

Visitation will be at the Reeb Funeral Home on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 10am until the funeral service begins at 11am. Interment will follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery.

Tributes may be given to the Bedford Senior Center or First Christian Church.
