Mary Maeder, 101, of Toledo, OH, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at the Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania. She was born June 6, 1916, in Mansfield, OH, to parents Melville and Florence (Deck) Koontz.
Mary was the owner of the Korman Muffler Co. located in Cleveland for more than 30 years, before retiring in 1975. She was a licensed single engine Commercial Pilot and an Instrument Rated Helicopter Pilot. Mary was a member of the Whirly Girls Incorporated, a group of female helicopter pilots.
She was the widow of Phillip Wenclaw and Oscar Maeder Jr. Mary is survived by her special friend and care-giver Sami I. Sayegh; and nephew Roy Retzloff and his family.
Honoring Mary’s wishes there will be no service or visitation. She will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery, Cleveland.
