William "Bill" Overcashier Obituary

William ‘Bill’ Frank Overcashier, 84, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on May 7, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 15, 1936 to Frank and Irene (Arsenault) Overcashier in Lake Orion, Michigan. He graduated from Libbey High School and then attended business courses at the University of Toledo. Bill worked in the Toledo shipyards for some time even working on the famed Edmund Fitzgerald before eventually working beside his father at Frank Overcashier Heating and Air, becoming owner upon his father’s retirement in 1976. He was one of the founding members of the Toledo Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors Association established in 1977 and served on THACCA’s Board of Directors and played a significant role in starting the THACCA apprenticeship program.  THACCA awarded Bill with the lifetime achievement award for his tireless service to the local heating and air condition industry and was instrumental in bringing geothermal heating and cooling to the Toledo area. Bill prided himself on being an expert and industry leader in heat pump technology. He was a member of the Toledo Home Builders Association and served on the Better Business Bureau Board of Directors. Bill grew his company to one of the largest residential HVAC companies in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, eventually selling it in 1993 in which it became Overcashier and Horst Heating and Air Conditioning and continued working there until his own retirement in 2000.

He married the love of his life Suzanne on September 29, 1956. Together they had two children, Jeffrey and Kimberly. Bill’s family was truly the light of his life and he was always surrounded by grandchildren and eventually his great grandchildren in which he cherished every moment. In addition to being a keen businessman, Bill loved to travel, camp and fish and was an avid outdoorsman. He was especially fond of fishing trips in Canada with his brother Harry and nephew Paul, as well as boating, hiking and camping at Isle Royale National Park. After his retirement, Bill and Suzanne would spend the winters traveling in Florida and the summers spending time at his cottage on the lake with family. Bill loved to help people around him and was a mentor and role model to many people in his life. He was known as a hard worker and was always working on a project around the house or at the lake, but he always knew how to have fun, make people laugh and be a big goofball.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; children, Jeff (Dawn) and Kim Marbais; brothers, Harry (Joan), Tom and Fred; his grandchildren, Derek, April, Taylor (Steve), Angie (Kerry), Jake, Noah, and Jenna; 11 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be joining his parents and sister, Susan Carroll.
