William "Bill" Dryer II Obituary

William J. Dryer II, age 74, of Monclova, Ohio passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his daughters.  He was born April 19, 1947, in Toledo, to Catherine “Katie” (Thomas) and Eugene A. Dryer.  Bill was raised in Sylvania graduating from Sylvania High School, class of 1965, after graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving four years at Langley AFB and OSAN base in Korea.  He was honorably discharged in 1970.  Upon returning home, Bill worked in the construction field.  In 1974 Bill was hired by the City of Sylvania for The Sylvania Police Department he served for thirty-six years retiring in 2010.  He was involved with several organizations throughout his life, Life member of VFW Post 2898, past president of F.O.P. Lodge 129 and served as Treasurer for several years.  He was a member of The Greater Toledo Safe Kids coalition and board member of Sylvania Area Federal Credit Union.

Bill was loved by many and disliked by few, he went by a few nick names Radar, Billy D., Honest Bill and Dick Tracy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald, and  loving wife Linda, Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Barfield, Shannon (Andre) Velazquez, granddaughter, Megan (Nico) Benedetti, grandson, Alex Velazquez, great- granddaughters, Luca and Isla Benedetti, siblings, Gerald Dryer and Deborah (Michael) McClure, brother-in-law, Greg (Cindy) Rydman, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH Friday September 17, 2021, from 3:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with funeral following at 7:00 P.M.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers please consider contributions to the  F.O.P.
