William Joseph DeSana Jr, age 81, passed away Monday May 17th at Flower Hospital in Sylvania.
Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather of Seven, President of Libbey High’s class of 57, President of his Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, U.S.National Guard service member, businessman, artist, volunteer, and animal therapy advocate - Bill DeSana was a GREAT man.
Born June 27th, 1939 in Toledo to William and Adelaide DeSana. He met his beloved Judy at a sorority function at The University of Toledo, and fifty-six wonderful years of marriage, two daughters, and seven grandchildren were to follow. He received his master’s degree of Business from the University of Toledo and worked at Owen-Illinois and was also a private practice personnel consultant.
Golf was his game - but helping others was where Bill shined the best. Wildwood Park’s Manor House, Meals on Wheels, and Agility Angels were some of his favorite organizations to spend his time and volunteer with.
Survived by his daughter, Lisa and his grandchildren, Cameron Smith; Alex, Madison and Jordan Avinger; Zach, Gabe, and Max Rioux; great granddaughter, Cailynn Avinger and son-in-law Quincy Avinger. Affectionately known to his grandchildren as Pippers, he was a mentor, role model, and fierce friend. We all had something to learn and look up to from Bill. He was preceded in death by, his wife, Judith Ann Imholt DeSana, and daughter Michele Avinger. He will be dearly missed, and his memory lives on through those family, friends, colleagues, and animals lives he impacted along the way.
