William J. Beutler, age 82, of Sylvania, OH passed away Friday, April 10, 2026, at Flower Hospital. He was born in Bluffton, OH to Leonard and Mary (Windau) Beutler on July 30, 1943. Bill married Sharon Okos, the love of his life, in 1974, and together they were blessed with two beautiful children Jeremy and Lisa.
Bill was truly one of a kind, an incredible man whose kindness, strength, and generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, papa, brother, and friend. Bill had a special way of making people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for, always offering a helping hand, wise advice, or quiet support when it was needed most.
He loved sharing stories of his childhood on the farm, where he learned the values of hard work, and resilience. Bill also found great joy in gardening, tending to it with the same care and patience he showed to everyone around him. He cherished memories of childhood friends, adventures with his brothers and sisters, horseback riding in the country, the many years spent vacationing in Acapulco, and the pride he felt watching his children and grandchildren grow up and all of their accomplishments. He treasured the countless loving memories he made with his best friend Sharon, by his side. His stories were endless and will be remembered by all who knew him.
Bill was a highly talented welder and fabricator; a trade he dedicated his life to after graduating from the Hobart Institute of Welding. No job was too great, no challenge too difficult, and no day’s work left unfinished. His determination and craftmanship were admired by all, and he proudly passed his skills on to his son and grandsons. More than anything, Bill was a mentor who taught others the value of dedication, honesty, and love. He inspired people not only by what he said, but by the way he lived each day – with integrity, compassion, and unwavering strength. His legacy will live on in the lessons he shared, the memories he created and the many lives he shaped.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon; his children, Jeremy (Megan) Beutler and Lisa (David) Stechschulte; his grandchildren, Bryson Beutler, Alex, Mason, Addyson Stechschulte and sisters, Ann (Bill) Borer, Sue Navarre, Elaine Jeko; and brother, Tom (Elly) Beutler. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron (Robin) Okos and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Beutler; and brother-in-law, Jim Jeko.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania Ohio, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon at the Sylvania Moose Lodge.
