Wesley C. Sampson, 4th son of T. Lester Sampson and Pauline (Prichard) Sampson was born in 1929 and reared in Lake Township, Clay County, Iowa. The community values education and Wes continues it through Drake University BCS (1950), MBA at U. Minnesota (1964) and Ph.D ( Accounting) at U, Missouri (1985).
Wes became a CPA in 1958 and CDP in 1969. He practiced accounting and consulting for 12 years before teaching Accounting at northern Illinois U., U. Northern Iowa, Des Moines are Community College and U. Missouri at Kansas City. After earning the doctorate he taught at U. Wisconsin-LaCrosse and University of Toledo, with retirement in 1994.
His career was focused on office automation. Wes was the first independent dealer of commercial computers (1970). He has developed two advances in his home discipline of Accounting, integration of commodity futures contracts into general ledger programs and an index of the general journal.
Surviving are daughters, Ann Scholten (Olaf) of Peize, the Netherlands; Lisa Sampson of Arlington, VA, and granddaughters, Claire, Cynthia, and Laura.
Earldine and Wes made many friends in the Toledo/Sylvania community, and in Epworth United Methodist Church. Burial of ashes will be at Ames, Iowa.
