Wayne D. Crooks

Wayne D. “Papa” Crooks, 96, of Sylvania, OH, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021, peacefully at Ebeid Hospice facility joining his lovely wife of 61 years, Gwen, who preceded him in death in 2011.

He was born in Muskegon, Michigan, April 28, 1925, to parents Claude and Pauline Crooks. 

He moved to Toledo in 1963 for a job with American Lincoln as Director of International Sales where he traveled to 92 countries.  Wayne enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s many activities, playing golf and spending the winters in Florida. 

Wayne is survived by daughters, Catherine (Thomas) Cook and Pamela (Gale) Rife; sons, Michael (Sue), John (Nan), and David (Liza) Crooks; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Betty); sister, Delores Decker.  He was preceded in death by sister, Dora; brother, Reginald (Vera); and brother-in-law, Gerald Decker.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania, Thursday June 3, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. with visitation at 9:00 A.M. at the church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania.
