Virginia Jirak Obituary

Virginia was born to Grace McElroy Beatty and Ralph E. Beatty and grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. She met her future husband, Frank Jirak, while attending Langley High School. They would dance together with other students in the high school gym where our Dad was president of the dance committee. As the years went by, they still danced together at family celebrations and on date nights. We like to think that they are together again and dancing in heaven. Virginia and Frank lived in Pittsburgh, Chambersburg, Atlanta and Toledo. Family and friends were always welcome in their home for dinner parties and fun. A favorite place to visit was the family cottage in Slippery Rock, Pa. Everyone who spent time there has stories and memories that we still talk about today. Virginia had two brothers, Ralph Emerson Beatty Jr. (Doris) and Frank Beatty; plus two sisters, Marjorie J. Petersen (Dietrich), Carolyn Rugh (Jack). The brothers- in-law were like the three amigos and there was lots of shenanigans. They enjoyed swimming, fishing and playing golf with Grandpa Beatty at the cottage while the ladies prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner for them. As years went by, Virginia played some golf too. Virginia and Frank had three children, Donna Driscoll, Dalene Porter and RobertJirak; four grandchildren, Christine Makowski Weber (Jim), Michelle Makowski Flores (Jose), Stephanie Jirak Cory (Kyle) and Daniel Jirak. There are five great grandchildren, Rachel Feichko (Joey), Megan Douglas, Alli Weber VanDorn (Joe), Maximillian George Weber, and Kaitlynn Edwards (Brandon) and five great great grandchildren. They are Nellie, Brae Lynn, Frankie, Evy and Olive Grace. Virginia was proud to have five generations of family. She had a wonderful life and was loved by all. Virginia passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo at the age of 98 and 1/2, “Going on 99!”. She had the best care anyone could wish for a loved one. It was comforting to her family that she was in such good hands. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of NW Ohio. Their website is www.hospicenwo.org. There will be a service in Pittsburgh at Jefferson Memorial Cemetary, 407-315 Curry Hollow Rd, Pleasant Hills, PA 15236 on August 21, 2021. If you are interested in attending, please contact Dalene Porter so we can plan accordingly.  Online condolences to reebfuneralhome.com
