Verena A. Blystone Eisel Delauter, age 94, passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born May 23, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio to Leonard and Irene Blystone. She graduated from Burnham High School in Sylvania. After graduation she attended Toledo University where she received her Associate’s Degree in Accounting. She worked in the office at Franklin Ice Cream. She married Gerard Eisel on November 19, 1949. They had three children: Brenda, Brian and Bonnie. For many years they would spend their vacations camping. When her children were older Verena took a job as Assistant Treasurer at Swanton Board of Education and worked there until she retired. Besides camping, she loved music and played the piano, organ and trumpet. She also loved to polka, waltz and square dance. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, flowers and the birds. She liked playing cards with family and friends. She liked to travel. She traveled the United States from East Coast to West Coast and to Canada. After her husband passed, she traveled to Austria, Germany and Switzerland with her brother Carl and friend June. Verena was preceded in death by her husband Gerard who passed on July 12, 1981. Several years later she married Duane “Sparky” Delauter who passed in 2001. In 2003 she met Tom Monaghan at the Sylvania Senior Center and they were a couple until he passed in August 2016. Verena was preceded in death by her brothers Carl and John Blystone and her son-in-law Mikeal George. Verena is survived by her daughter Brenda Keeler (Dave Miller), son Brian Eisel and daughter Bonnie George. Grandchildren: Melissa Keeler, Wendy (Chad) Kennedy, Shannon (Crissy) George and Brandon (Beth) George, nine great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Mariarlene Langenderfer and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Tom’s family: Mike and Randi Monaghan and family, Dave and Ruth Monaghan and family, Pete and Shauna Monaghan and family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice Home Care Team of Northwest Ohio for their care and kindness to our Mom. Visitation will be held, Thursday January 20, 2022 from 9:30 A.M. – 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Raab Road, where the Mass will be conducted at 10:30 A.M.
