Thomas W. Townsend Jr.

Thomas W Townsend Jr, 79, passed away September 9, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.  Tom was born on March 23, 1944, to Thomas Townsend Sr and Hazel (Hackman) Townsend.  Tom married his high school sweetheart, Florence “Flossie” in 1963 and together they raised 3 children.

Tom graduated from Sylvania Burnham High School in 1963. He and Flossie started a floor covering business, Townsend Carpeting, in 1969.  Tom and Flossie loved to travel and traveled all over the United States in various motor homes with their 3 children and was a member of  FMCA.  He loved driving through the mountains in Tennessee.  He loved old cars and belonged to several car clubs and participated in many car shows over the years.  He also competed in tractor pulls and enjoyed cheering for the Michigan Wolverines and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Flossie; children, Marcia (Jim) Farris, Greg (Beth)  Townsend and Ann Sommers; grandchildren, Cory (Erin), Ryan (Rachel), Katelyn (Zak), Daniel (Carly), Thomas (Chelsea), Sara, Andrew (Desiree), Meagan, Lindsey, and Noah (Austin); great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Adalynn, Addison, Ellie, Harper, and Cooper; and siblings, Mark (Gina), Terry Stoll and Kathy (Dave) Beckman; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmom Marjorie Townsend, and siblings David, Floyd, Jeanie and Patsy.

Visitation will be at the Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, from 3pm until 8pm.  The Funeral Mass will be at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Temperance on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 11am, with visitation one hour prior at the church. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Thomas’ name may be given to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Hospice of NWO or The Victory Center.
