Theresa Ann Florez

Theresa Florez, age 60, of Holland, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 1, 1962 to parents Frank and Guadalupe Ochoa Florez.  Theresa was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and godmother. 

Much like her mom, Theresa had an incredibly caring nature, whose kindness reached far beyond her own family. She enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Steelers, Christmas movies, Hallmark movies (any type of movie!), and spending time with her family and grandbabies. She would spend hours listening to Luis Miguel, one of her favorite artists. One of her proudest moments was when her son, Greg, graduated from The Ohio State University in 2005. Theresa worked at Rosary Care Center on the Motherhouse grounds of the Sylvania Franciscans in Sylvania, Ohio for many years. Upon retirement, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she helped raise her first granddaughter, Isabelle, in 2014 and her first grandson, Alex, in 2016. She loved sightseeing, restaurants, and even got to see a Steelers game live at Soldier Field in 2017. 

Theresa is survived by son Greg (Lizzette) Florez, sisters Caroline Faz, Lupe (Elizar) Lizcano, Liz (Tim) Rowe, and brother Michael (Lisa) Florez; grandchildren Isabelle and Alex, nephews Frank, John, Mike, Jason, Cory, Danny, Mario, and Marky, niece Marie, great-nephews and great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings PFC Frank Ochoa Florez Jr and Norma-Jean. 

A celebration of Theresa’s life will be held on January 20, 2023, with visitation from 5:00pm- 8:00pm at Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania, Ohio.                                                                                     

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support, especially the kind doctors, nurses, and staff at Mercy Health- St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
