Susan Ann (Mercurio) Postlewait

Susan “Susie” A. Postlewait, 79, of Sylvania, passed away on February 24, 2023 at Otterbein
Sunset Village in Sylvania. She was born on April 9, 1943 to Roy and Mary Agnes (Amon)
Mercurio in Toledo, OH. She married Terry K. Postlewait on May 15, 1965. The two met at
University of Toledo and after marrying, Susie put her education on hold so they could start a
family.
Susie graduated high school from Central Catholic in Toledo, OH. She received her Bachelor’s
Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University and her Master’s Degree in Education
from Western Michigan University. She taught grade school at Bridgeman Elementary School
in Bridgeman, MI for many years!
Faith was very important to Susie, a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Sylvania. She loved cooking for family and friends, dining out, dancing, sewing, reading and
traveling with her husband throughout the United States in their camper. She and Terry spent a
year in Anaheim, CA and a year and half in Valdez, AK while Terry worked on the Alaskan
pipeline. She lived many years in Jackson Michigan before she returned home to Ohio. Most of
all, Susie loved taking care of and being with her family.
Susie is survived by her husband, Terry; children, Jennifer (David) Kachinosky and Michael
(Abbey) Postlewait; grandchildren, Abbey Kachinosky, Anthony Kachinosky,, Devin (Nicole)
Kachinosky and Jonah VanHoeven; great grandchildren, Aria and Hayden Kachinosky; and
siblings, Michael (Tsipi) Mercurio, Roy “Jim” (Debbie) Mercurio, Mary Jo (John) Daoust and
Elizabeth “Tito” (Wayne) Hartford as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her parents.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Sylvania on Saturday, March 11, 2023
from 9 am until 10 am with Funeral Mass commencing at 10 am. Inurnment will be immediately
afterwards at Toledo Memorial Park with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, tributes in
Susie’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
