Sheryl Demko Obituary

Robert Allen Demko, 78, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away on 06/27/2021. He was born to parents Steven and Bernice Demko, on 09/10/1942.

Not even one year prior, his dedicated wife, Sheryl Ann Demko, 72, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away on her birthday, 07/15/2020. She was born to parents John Tedesco and Ruth Tedesco, on 07/15/1948 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Robert graduated from Clay High School in 1960. Sheryl graduated from Jeannette High School in 1965.

Robert worked as a Machinist and a Maintenance Supervisor for over 30 years until he became disabled in 2000. Sheryl worked as a Medical Coder for 35 years. After 35 years of service, she retired from St. Luke’s Hospital in 2015.

Robert was a talented carpenter and craftsman. He was a jack-of-all-trades who was known to be able to fix and or build just about anything. He enjoyed watching any and all sports, carpentry, sports cars, working on cars, the boxer dog breed, and smoking cigars. Shortly after his disability due to a spinal tumor, Robert enjoyed owning and racing harness racing horses. He raced them throughout the Midwest and was especially fond of his prized horse named Friend Indeed.

Sheryl was a friendly extrovert who loved looking at and talking about homes. She was comfortable talking to anyone, especially about real estate. Sheryl enjoyed reading, television soap operas, walking, visiting the beach, and especially, cheering on her grandchildren at their sports and activities. As a retiree, she decided to follow her passion, and became a part-time realtor, where she worked for 6 years at Sulfur Springs Realty.

Robert and Sheryl met in 1971 through mutual friends. They fell madly in love and were married three short years later, on May 30, 1974 in Toledo, Ohio. Together, they lived in and owned multiple homes and rental properties from Ohio, California and Florida, throughout their lives. Real estate was a common passion for both of them. Together they raised 1 child from their marriage and 3 children from Robert's first marriage. Children: Bryan Demko, Robert Demko, Michael Demko, Angela Irving.

Robert and Sheryl are survived by Bryan Demko, their mutual son, Robert Demko (Jr.), Robert's oldest son/Sheryl’s stepchild, Angela Irving, Robert's daughter/Sheryl’s stepchild, Tracy Irving, son-in-law, Cherie Demko, daughter-in-law, Lindsey Irving, granddaughter, Tyler Irving, grandson Gabriella Demko, granddaughter, Dominic Demko, grandson, and Vivian Demko, granddaughter.
