Sherman “Sherm” D Kimple, 81, of Swanton, OH, passed away on Saturday, March 22,
2025 at Mercy Health Perrysburg Hospital. He was born on April 30, 1943 in Toledo,
OH to Homer and Leona (Blinn) Kimple.
Sherm graduated from Roger’s High School in 1957 and joined the United States Army.
He was stationed in Germany and was a tank commander and drill sergeant. Sherm
was a master mechanic for over 49 years working at various Ford dealerships, retiring
from Brondes Ford Maumee, OH.
Sherm leaves behind a legacy of skill, honesty and unforgettable storytelling. Sherm
was never one to hold back and spoke his mind with honesty, making him one of a kind.
His stories were as legendary as his custom-built motors.
Sherm’s extended racing family knew him for his various types of engine building over
the years, but his passion was building go-kart motors. Many of his custom-built motors
put countless racers in victory lane. Sherm could always be found on the fence line with
his stopwatch in hand!
Whether in the garage, at the track, or simply among friends, Sherm had a way of
leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by all who
had the privilege of knowing him.
Sherman is survived by his fiancé, Linda Lennard; children, Richard Kimple, Michelle
(Tom) Davis; Sherman Jr. (Jamie) Kimple, Jared (Angie) Kimple, Heather (Eric) Erdody
