Sharon Lee Verral, 86, passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in person and in thought. Sharon shared over 60 wonderful years with her husband, Dan, in Lambertville, Michigan. Their love story began at DeVilbiss High School, where it’s fondly remembered that Dan “cheated off her in Latin class”. They married on May 5, 1962, and built a beautiful life together, raising five children: Shelley Carr, Leslie Verral, Danny Verral, Timothy Verral, and Stephen (Sue D’Isabel) Verral.
Family was always the center for Sharon, whether it was running the girls to dance classes and recitals, watching the boys play sports or encouraging all the kids in their endeavors. She could always be found at the kid’s schools, camping with her Campfire Girls troop and bringing drinks and snacks to ball games. Dan and Sharon raised the kids in an amazing neighborhood where Sharon enjoyed playing Bunco with the neighbors, organizing Halloween costume contests and parades and block parties. It was one where the kids left on bikes in the morning and came home when Sharon called in for dinner in the evening. There was almost always a German Shepherd in the backyard for most of those 62 years – with Zayla being by her side at the end. Sharon was recognized for her devotion to her family by being named the 1975 Toledo Mother of Twins Club Mother of the Year. It was an honor she wore proudly when she would make it back for an annual luncheon or dinner.
One of the favorite things her father-in-law ever said to her was “you won’t go hungry when Sharon is cooking”. She took great pride in that, knowing that her dining room table (bought for her by her son Stephen) was a gathering place for holidays, special events and many family dinners.
Sharons greatest joy was her grandchildren: Cassie, Ansley, Stephen, Hunter, and Gavin. She relished every moment spent with them, attending birthday parties, swim meets, dance recitals, ball games, band concerts, hockey games, and track meets. She loved sharing stories about her time spent with her grandchildren. She switched from watching her soap operas to following along stories on video games and would not allow the kids to play unless she was there so she didn’t miss anything. While still able Sharon loved to travel to see her grandchildren and family. Sharon did work outside of the home. She was a secretary at Sun Oil, prior to marrying and would still write things down in shorthand when she was trying to keep it secret from her kids. She also worked at the schools when her kids were young in the lunchroom. Later, she enjoyed a fulfilling career as an Admissions Representative at Flower Hospital, maintaining friendships with her colleagues even into retirement.
Sharon is survived by Dan, her loving husband of 62 years, children Shelley, Leslie, Danny, Tim, Stephe and Sue, grandchildren Cassie, Ansley, Stephen, Hunter, and Gavin. As well as her twin brother Donald (Bud) Jaynes and sister-in-law Barbara Stowitts. She was preceeded in death by her parents Leslie and Helen Jaynes, in-laws Samuel and Charlene Verral, sister Carol Hopkins, sisters-in-law Marge Jaynes and Lynn Schroeder and brothers-in-law Al Schroeder and Doug Stowitts.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Desiree Miller, whose companionship and care brought comfort to Sharon in her final months. Services for Sharon will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Visitation will be at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main Street, Sylvania, OH, from 10 :00 am – 1:30 pm, with services following at 1:30 pm.
