Rosemary Clara (Rabert) Bruner

Rosemary Clara Bruner, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2023 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born May 24, 1933 in Almont, Michigan to Frederick and Catherine Rabert. Early on, Rosemary worked at the Michigan Bell Telephone Company as a switch board operator. Lacking glamor, Rosemary left the telephone company and put herself through “beauty school”. Rosemary worked as a beautician and homemaker for many decades. Rosemary enjoyed many creative pursuits, these included: oil painting, needle point, sewing and home decorating. Rosemary had a keen eye for details and aesthetics and always had an opinion about the space around her. Even in her last days, she asked that her hospital bed be angled and positioned to better align and accommodate the collection of medical equipment required around her. Rosemary was a character and as her oldest grandchild described her countenance and response best, “grandma is a tough cookie”. That was true. In fact, in the last years of her life, Rosemary took on many new responsibilities and roles and she met those challenges willingly and humbly at times. In her final moments Rosemary had a clarity about life that was exceptional and captivating. Simply put, my mother’s message was that the world needs more love, more acceptance and to find Jesus. My mother was not a theologian. In fact, my mother wasn’t even a church-goer. My mother wasn’t an activist or supporter and for these reasons, her closing thoughts were powerful. For that reason, I honor her in sharing them.

Rosemary Bruner is survived by her husband, John W. Bruner, daughter, Julie Knapp, beloved  grandchildren, Lucy, Adam and Emily Knapp. Please join us as we celebrate Rosemary’s life on Saturday, March 25 th at Church 3TwentyOne, 5845 Centennial Road, Sylvania OH 43560. Beginning at 11:00 AM, we will enjoy a celebration of life ceremony followed by a lunch and a time to visit and honor Rosemary.
