February 13, 1943 - August 23, 2024
Ronald E. Gill, age 81 passed away at home peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 23, 2024. Ron was born to Kenneth Gill and Lucille McLain in Toledo, OH on February 13, 1943. Ron was raised in Toledo and graduated from Whitmer High School in 1962. He became a police officer in 1965 and served on the Toledo Police Department for 25 years. He was a member of the Fraternal order Of Police and the Toledo Police Patrolmen’s Association. He was an active member of Westgate Chapel. He especially loved his Saturday morning men’s Bible study. He truly believed in the Police motto to protect and serve and lived his life by it. He was a compassionate man by nature and was quick to jump in and help others. He was very friendly and could carry on a conversation with everyone and anyone. He lived his life in his Christian faith, showing his deep faith in the Lord.
Ron met the love of his life Kathy at the age of 15, she was 14. They got married on September 29, 1962. They have always been best friends and soulmates, living happily together for nearly 62 years. The focus of his life was his family. Many special memories were made spending his time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Willard and Phillip and granddaughter Courtney. Surviving is his wife Kathleen, children Greg (Wendy) Gill, Rhonda (Jim) Gladieux, Tim Gill and Ivan Mitchell, six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 27 at Reeb Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 28 at 11:00 at Westgate Chapel, 2500 Wilford Dr., Toledo Oh 43615.
