Obituary

Ronald Martin Gabel started his final journey on May 2, 2023, at the age of 90. Ron was born and raised in Detroit, MI where he met and married his high school sweetheart, MaryLou, whom he enjoyed 67 wonderful years together.

Since 1970, Ron had been an active member of Olivet Lutheran Church serving as President, Committee Chairman of Finance and Usher.  He also volunteered for 25 years as Finance Chairman for Genacross Lutheran Services.

Beginning his 33-year career with Continental Aviation in Detroit, Ron moved his family from Grosse Pointe Park, MI to Sylvania in 1970.  He spent the first decade as Project Engineer Manager, the 2nd as Director of Finance and 3rd as Liaison with the Pentagon.

Ron was very active in The Toledo Yacht Club since 1987 where he served as Commodore in 1992, Club Historian and Manager of The Trophies for the Mills Races.

Ron is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Don) and Colleen (Ed), 2 grandchildren, Jessica and Andrew (Kirsten) and 3 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Toledo Memorial Park, Monroe Street, Sylvania on Monday, May 8 at 2pm.  All welcome as Ron cruises off to heaven in his 36’ Mainship or drives off into the sunset in his 1976 Corvette.
