Ronald Brinning Obituary

Ronald William Brinning, 66, was called home to hunt the woods in Heaven on October 11, 2024.

Born October 7, 1958, Ron was the son of the late Ronald and Lois (Wobser) Brinning. Ron was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. After graduating from Whiteford High School in 1976, Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a Munitions Systems Specialist from 1977 to 1981. In his four years of service, Ron attained the rank of Sergent before being Honorably Discharged. After his service, and to the present, Ron was a farmer and independent truck driver.

Ron enjoyed the simple things in life.  He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and had a lifetime’s worth of stories he could tell about hunting with his friends (and the shenanigans they got themselves into). He loved farming – whether his own land or helping out his friends, fishing, going for walks around his property (with his dogs and trusty sidekicks, Hank and Pistol), shooting guns, the casino (where he always won), the use of the thumbs up emoji when responding to text messages, Deadliest Catch, working on his many home improvement projects and going for “fish dinner” at his favorite restaurant. Above all, Ron’s greatest joy in life was getting to spend time with his daughters and grandchildren. We will, without a doubt, miss his vast wisdom, unconditional guidance and elevated sense of humor.

Ron is survived by his daughters, Leslie Brinning of Dundee, Michigan; Emily Brinning of Owosso, Michigan and Brooke Brinning of Tecumseh, Michigan; his grandchildren, Jack and Claire Lisker, Rowen Thorn and Natalie and Parker Stockford; sisters, Sue (John) Wanke of Onsted, Michigan, Carol (Jerry) Butz of Ottawa Lake, Michigan and Sharon (Terry) Butz of Moody, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Douglas, two nieces and one nephew.

A memorial gathering will be held at Olivet Lutheran Church, Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, with a memorial service starting at 12:00 PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the University of Michigan CS Mott Children’s Hospital, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
