Robert “Bob” G. Hoag, 61, of Sylvania, OH, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania, after a 2-year battle with cancer.
Bob was born to parents Clyde and Joanne (Knott) Hoag. He graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in 1980 and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Toledo in 2000. Bob managed the True North Shell Station in Sylvania for many years. He was an avid golfer at Whiteford Valley Golf Club. Bob enjoyed walking his dog and bird watching at the Toledo Metro Parks. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Deborah Koles-Hoag; sister Laurie (James) Rice and their children James (Amy) Rice and Rob (Hope) Rice, and sister Jenny (Dominic Barberio) Hoag and their son Nick Barberio; mother-in-law Judy Koles; sister-in-law Gretchen (Hugh Cruickshank) Koles; brother-in-law Bradford (Lee) Koles Jr. and their children Bradford Koles III and Vivian Koles; and his faithful K-9 companion Gus. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Bradford Koles. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Flower Hospital for all their loving care and support during this difficult time. It was Bob’s desire to not have a viewing. A grave side funeral ceremony at Ravine Cemetery will be set for a later date.
