Robert Louis Schalitz, 85, of Waterville, OH, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Mercy Perrysburg.
He was born May 30, 1938, in Toledo, OH, to Alfred and Helen (Sly) Schalitz. Bob served his country as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. Robert was employed as an accountant with General Motors for 30 years retiring as the Financial Controller of the Toledo Hydramatic Plant in 1993. He was a member for many years at Our Savior Lutheran Church on Alexis Rd., including being Lead Scout Master for troop 156 for many years, serving on the board at the Lutheran Home and volunteering for meals on wheels through the church. Robert enjoyed gardening and refinishing furniture in his spare time.
He is survived by his loving family; wife, Jacquelyn (Holers) Schalitz; sons, Don (Cindy), William (Pam), and Edward Schalitz; grandchildren, Amanda (Brennan), Brandon (Mike), Nicholas (Maddie), Connor (Katie), Troy (Alexa), Kyle, and Carly; great grandchildren, Everett, Theo, Robert, Leia, and Charlotte; and daughter-in-law Karen Schalitz.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, first wife of 50 years Mary Elizabeth (Simmers), and son James.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH, Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon when the Funeral Service will begin.
