Robert Jerome Michalak

September 15, 1936 ~ August 28, 2023 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Obituary

Robert J. Michalak, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 28, 2023. Robert was born in Toledo, OH to Genevieve and Joseph Michalak on September 15, 1936.

He graduated from Woodward High School and began his career in sales at Baker Brothers and Gross Electric. Among his notable accomplishments was being a previous owner of Mick Electric on South Avenue, where he displayed a tremendous focus on customer service – he had a way of making everyone feel special.

Robert loved having Cadillac cars, boating, fishing, golf, bowling and going to casinos. He had a great interest in horse racing, being an owner and loved to play the ponies. He was very proud of his Polish heritage, Polish music and polka dancing. You could always count on his Stanley’s Polish Kielbasa for the holidays.

Robert and his wife, Kathy, really enjoyed spending all their winter months at their Florida condo, where they created many wonderful memories and good times for their family and friends. They loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas.

Robert was a very loving, compassionate, caring and generous man. He always wanted to help and guide people to start their careers, especially in the electrical trade. In fact, he made it a family affair getting his sons, Robert and Keith; son-in-law, Mike; and nephews, Kenny and Kevin, into the trade. He was loved by all, and he will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronnie; son, Keith; and stepdaughter, Karen.

He is survived by his lovely wife of 41 years, Kathy; son, Robert (Alison); daughter, Kathy (Mike) Gafford; sister, Janice Konoff; grandchildren, Lauren, Mark (KaLee), Megan, Katie (Tom) and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Callum, Rory, PresLee; and nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

Friends and family may call at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, Tuesday, September 5, 2023, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania, at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2023. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo.
