Robert “Bob” Dickerson, former longtime Whiteford Township Treasurer and Fire Chief, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the Kingston Residence of Sylvania. Bob was born November 18, 1934, at home in Ottawa Lake, MI to parents Walker and Anna (Vince) Dickerson. He was employed as a bus mechanic with the Sylvania Schools retiring in 2011, after more than 41 years of service. An active member of the Ottawa Lake community, Bob served as Township Treasurer from 1984 until 2008, and as Fire Chief of Station 42, Ottawa Lake for many years. He also was a longtime member of the Ottawa Lake Sportsman Club.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of more than 66 years, Charlene (DeVriendt) Dickerson; sons, Bob (Priscilla), Jeff (Maria), and Kevin (Arrow) Dickerson; grandchildren, Ryan, Abbey, Jason, Nicole, Austin, and Zachary; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Christina Jacobs, Margaret Thede, Gloria Morton, Susan (Mark) Adsit, and Patricia Dickerson; brothers, Ronald, Albert, and Frank Dickerson; brother-in-law, Gary Wilder; and his faithful K-9 companion, Princess. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jonathan; sisters, Betty Wilder and Anna Rose Dickerson; and brothers, Walter John and John Dickerson.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH, Sunday, December 5, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., where Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, December 6, at 1:00 p.m. The Ottawa Lake Fire Department will conduct a service at the funeral home Sunday evening.
