Robert A. Davenport, 87, of Sylvania, OH, passed away at home, Wednesday, January 27, 2021, while under hospice care. He was born August 12, 1933, in Toledo, OH, to parents Anson and Loretta (Gries) Davenport. He was a lifetime Sylvania resident and member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Robert was a 1951 graduate of Burnham H.S. and went to the University of Toledo. After graduation he was proud to serve in the United States Army. He worked as a mechanical engineer for more than 40 years with the former Peerless Molded Plastics Co. and retired in 1996 from Impact Products. Robert was an avid golfer and longtime member of Valleywood Golf Club where he accomplished four hole in ones. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 62 years, Patricia (Gillen) Davenport; daughters Suzanne (Robert) Lowery, Michele Davenport (Janice Leicester), and Jennifer (Jason) Greenwood; sons James (Cheryl) and Thomas Davenport; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; sister Sharon Burch; and sister-in-law Judith Davenport. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister Barbara Rush; brother Michael Davenport; and brothers in-law Daniel Rush and William Burch, nephew Michael Burch.
The Funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania, Friday, February 5th at 11:00 AM, where family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at the church one-hour prior. He will be laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park.
