Rita Agnes (Schmitz) Langenderfer

Rita A. Langenderfer, 95, of Sylvania, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Charter Senior Living.  Rita was born on January 30, 1927, to John and Lauretta (Myers) Schmitz.   She married James A. Langenderfer on February 22, 1944, and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2008. 

Rita was raised in Assumption, Ohio, and was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity and Marygrove Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  She loved her cats and was passionate about her flower garden.  She enjoyed watching the birds, crafting, and playing cards.  For many years, Rita was an active partner on the farm with her husband, James.                                                                                     

Rita is survived by her children, Judy (Garry) Raabe, David (Maureen), Harlan (Lynn), and Bonnie (Tom) Marvin; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Margie Shininger.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; her siblings, Virgil, Monica, Juanita; son, Gary; daughter-in-law, Diane; and grandchildren, Megan, Laura, Lisa, and Jacqueline.                                                                                                                         

Rita remained in her home for most of her life years and received outstanding care with Charter Senior Living of Oak Openings and Hospice Transitions Care of Toledo for the last four months. “We can’t thank them enough for their outstanding loving care for Rita!” -family and friends.                                             

Visitation will be at Reeb Funeral Home on Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 4 pm until 8 pm, with a scripture service at 7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 11 am, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Marygrove Cemetery.
