Richard C. Strouse, 93, of Sylvania, Ohio left this earthly world Thursday, November 17, 2021, passing away unexpectedly at Flower Hospital. Richard was born on July 18, 1928, to Clyde and Daisy (Pelton) Strouse. Married on December 31, 1953, Nancy Charles and Richard together raised three (3) children. His passion for education was evident as he earned two (2) Bachelor’s degrees from Bowling Green State University in Science and Education. He further received two (2) Masters from The University of Toledo in Science and Education. After working as a schoolteacher in Sylvania for 38 years, retiring in 1987, he also worked for Howard Gas & Oil for 40 years. Richard served in the U. S. Army during WWII from June 27, 1946, to October 27, 1947, as an officer stationed in Japan. Spending many years as a member of the Toledo Exchange Club, he also served as their president. While Richard was a scratch golfer and bowler, he especially loved his time spent at Raceway Park and his and Nancy’s attendance at The Little Brown Jug Races in Del Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Mike (Danette) Strouse, Karen Strouse, and Charles “Chuck” (Stacy) Strouse; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be at Reeb Funeral Home on Monday, November 22, 2021, from 4pm until 8pm where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 11am. Interment will be at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 10am. The family suggests donations in Richard’s name to Olivet Lutheran Church.
