Richard Mossing Obituary

Richard L. Mossing, 88, of Ottawa Lake, MI, passed away, Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at his home while under hospice care. He was born in Metamora, OH, March 28, 1936, to parents Leslie and Isabella (Koelsch) Mossing.

Dick was a life-long Cement Mason. He built Mossing Concrete Contracting from scratch into a respected member of the Toledo area construction community. He was proud to have provided many jobs over the years and to contribute to the growth of many businesses and the well-being of many families.

Dick was not one to sit still for long. After selling the business, he quickly found another passion: pheasant farming. Dick and Pam joined forces with another couple by investing in a handful of birds and the coops and cages necessary to establish a pheasant farm. They grew to become a regional provider of pheasants for over seven years, selling to golf courses, hunting preserves, and wild game dinners.

Dick enjoyed a number of lifelong interests with Pam, his family, and friends. He was an avid golfer into his 80s. A hole-in-one at Spuyten Duyval Golf Course in Sylvania was a memorable event (especially for all at the 19th hole). He loved to play cards, winning the Sylvania Moose Lodge’s Texas Hold ‘Em tournament and an entry into the Moose’s national tournament in Las Vegas one year. He looked forward to the Moose Lodge euchre league games on Saturdays until just a month ago. Weekend camping trips with family and friends developed a legendary status. Dick continued camping for many years with Pam and friends. He also loved to watch football with both NFL and Michigan games on the TV most weekends during the season.

Dick and Pam were charter members of the Sylvania Moose Lodge. They’ve been involved since they were first introduced to Moose, and in time, held the highest leadership roles of Governor (Dick) and Senior Regent (Pam). They made lifelong friends and are proud of their involvement in all Moose initiatives and their positive contributions to society.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years Pam (Hanover) Mossing; daughter Renee Mossing; sons Bob, Brian (Dawn), and Randy (Maria) Mossing; grandchildren Alex, Becci, Courtney, Kristen, Joe, Isabel, Amanda, Jordan, Tatiana, and Jake; great-grandchildren Maverick, Ryker, LaDonivan, SaMiyah, Nathan, Josiah, Micah, Elaina, Gauge, Antonio, Dominick and Connor. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Larry, Ken, Ron, Tom, and Bud Mossing.

Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH, Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 12:00pm until 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Mooseheart Child City & School Inc., Moosehaven, or the Sylvania Moose Lodge #1579 in Richard Mossing’s memory, to continue his legacy of supporting them.
