Richard Donn Cranor

Richard “Donn” Cranor of Blissfield, Michigan peacefully passed away April 24, 2022 at home with his wife Nancy and family by his side. Donn was born to Charles and Hazel Cranor in East Detroit, Michigan on October 5, 1925. At age 14 his parents moved to Dundee, Michigan where Donn attended Dundee High School.   
After graduating from high school in 1943 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was assigned to the USS Sierra, a destroyer tender, and sent to the South Pacific. In May 1946 Donn returned home from WW II. He went onto Michigan State University where he graduated and began his career with the Farm Credit System. 
Donn served on the Blissfield School Board and coached Blissfield Little League baseball. After working for the Farm Credit System for 34 years he retired in 1985 and returned as an assessor for 10 plus years. In 1994 he married Nancy Jones. They enjoyed traveling to Germany several times. They were active members of the Toldeo Schwaben Verein and GAF. He enjoyed playing cards with longtime friends over the past 60 years. He enjoyed a good burger and beer with friends and family. Donn was a lifelong Spartan fan and a proud military veteran. He served with Blissfield VFW Post 325 color guard. 
Donn was preceded by his parents, sister Janice Dwiggins and daughter Kristen Witt. Survived by his loving wife Nancy of 27 years, children Kim (Loraine) Cranor, Kyle (Patti) Cranor, Scott (Joy) Jones, Erin (Chad) Abbott. Also surviving are grandchildren, Regina Livesay, Brooke (Shawn) McLaughlin, Korey Cranor, Abby Slusher, Devon Slusher, Tyler Jones, Carter (Katie) Jones, Dylan Jones and one great-grandson Henry McLaughlin.  
Visitation will be held on May 4, 2022, from 12 PM to 2 PM at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St., Sylvania, Ohio. Military Honors to follow. 
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lenawee County Humane Society or Hospice of Monroe.
