Reginald L Lathrop II

Reginald L Lathrop II, 86, of Berkey, OH, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 at his home in Berkey surrounded by his family.  He was born June 5, 1937 on the family farm in Berkey, OH to Reginald and Ruthilda (Davis) Lathrop Sr.  Reginald married Lolabel Shoemaker on 8/24/1960. She preceded him in death in 2013.

Reginald graduated from Metamora High School in 1955 and joined the Army National Guard, serving as a cook from 1960 until 1966.  After his service, he continued farming the family property and began working in manufacturing, retiring from Pilliod Cabinet Company in Swanton, OH.  He had a great work ethic and loved farming and mowing.  

Reginald is survived by his children Linda (De) Flores, Billie (John) Szczepanski and Joe Lathrop; 8 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sister Nan (Kenny) Bennett and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughters, DeeDee Shoemaker and Cathy “Star” Thornburgh; son-in-law, Jeff Thornburgh; brother, Randy; and grandchild, Heather Marie.

Family and friends may attend visitation at Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania, OH on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 3 pm until 7 pm.  The funeral will be conducted at Reeb Funeral Home on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11am. Interment will follow at Ford Cemetery, Berkey, OH.  The family suggests contributions be made to Heartland Hospice or the donor’s choice in honor of Reginald.
