Phyllis Mae Rupp Pawlicki
July 1, 1932 - March 29, 2024
Phyllis Mae Rupp Pawlicki, age 91, passed away peacefully in Sylvania, Ohio on Friday March 29th, 2024. She is survived by her children K. David (Martha), Michael (Therese) and Julie; 9 grandchildren Seth, Paola, Mario, Timothy, Alexandra, Colleen, Andrew, Lauren, Joseph; and 4 great grandchildren Caleb, Elijah, Eliana, and Benjamin. Phyllis was born in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1950. During high school, she expressed many wonderful memories working after school with her cousins Elizabeth and Jeanne at their local dress store. She went on to study business at the University of Toledo and transferred to Miami University of Ohio in 1953. While at Miami she joined the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was honored to be the Homecoming Queen in 1953.
On May 7, 1955, she married Clarence “Doc” Pawlicki and they shared a wonderful life together. Golf was one of their favorite pastimes. She maintained many friendships that began on the golf course “chasing the silly white ball”. She won the Ladies Club Championship in 1991 and she and Doc won the “Jack and Jill” Couples Championship 1989 both at the Inverness Club. She had 3 holes in one during her lifetime and continued to play 3 rounds of golf per week up to age 89. She also enjoyed playing bridge, singing in the choir, and baking her amazing sugar cookies for her grandchildren. And we will all cherish her poems that she carefully wrote in each of our birthday cards.
Mom was a beautiful woman inside and out,
She taught us to smile and hold back our pout.
She taught us to be frugal and not to waste,
to take our time and not do things in haste.
She taught us to be faithful and that prayers matter,
and to put extra vanilla into all cookie batter.
She found everyone's gift and encouraged us to grow,
believing in us when we didn’t know.
She cared for all living creatures with unconditional love,
She will always be remembered in the heavens above.
A private service will be at the Toledo Memorial Cemetery.
“No need for a celebration, my family deserves all the admiration.” ~ Mom
