Phyllis A. Frain, age 87, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, with her loving family
by her side.
She was born on December 13, 1938, to Walter Jedrzejak and Philomena Hovanek. Phyllis met the love of her life, Ken, at Lindblom High School in Chicago, Illinois, and they were united in marriage in 1958. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four wonderful children.
Phyllis worked as a teacher’s aide for Sylvania Schools, where she cherished the smiles of both her coworkers and her students.
In her free time, she loved spending time at Highland Meadows, enjoying the pool, golfing, and playing Mahjong. She also loved playing Bunco with her neighborhood friends. Nothing brought her more joy than being with her family. She could often be found cheering on her grandchildren at their many sporting events and activities, just as she had done for her own children.
Phyllis was famous for her pretzel salad, Heath candy, and pumpkin bread. If she really liked you, you might find a surprise delivery of one of these treats on your front porch.
She was the beloved family matriarch and will be remembered for her warmth, her deep dedication to family and friends, and her vibrant spirit and smile.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ken; her four children, Bill (Patti) Frain, Karen Cooperider, Kathy (Phil) Pyrce, and Sue (Bob) Crandall; her nine grandchildren, Megan, William, Zane, Drew, Halle, Emma, Sarah, Anna, and Luke; five great- grandchildren; and her sister, Cynthia Demeter.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian; her brothers, Eugene, Gerald, Walter, and Bruno; and her son-in-law, Jay Cooperider. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, Ohio 43560. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main St., Sylvania, Ohio 43560.
Phyllis’s legacy of love, generosity, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew her.
