Norman Sattler Obituary

Norman Lambert Sattler, age 96, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2019 at the Goerlich Center in Sylvania, Ohio. Norman was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 8, 1922 to Lambert and Bertha Sattler. After graduating from DeVilbiss High School he proudly served in the US Army during World War II.

Norman married Donna Wirick on September 2, 1949 and they had the time of their lives for 61 years before she passed in 2010.

After spending the majority of his career with Bunting Brass and Bronze he retired in 1985 and moved to his second home at Devils Lake, Michigan. There he could sit and watch his “river” as he enjoyed his daily martinis before moving to Venice, Florida in 1997.

Norm loved to sing, work crossword puzzles, play cards, and was always quick with a joke. He also loved to watch the Detroit Tigers, Lions and that Team up North.  Even as his health declined, he always had a positive outlook, pleasant disposition, and great sense of humor that was often noticed by the medical staff taking care of him.

Norm was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, son Rudy, brother Art, and sister Marilyn. He will be profoundly missed by his daughter Deb (Mike) Kaczmarek, son Grant (Sharon) Sattler, daughter-in-law Nancy (Rudy) Sattler and sister Betty. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren Cort (Holly) Sattler, Clint (Jessica) Sattler, Corinne (Asa) Waterstraut, Jessica (Joe) Perkins, Jacob Sattler and Nathan Sattler, as well as his five great-grandchildren, Calib, Peyton, Hayden, Gwen and Garrett.

The family wishes to thank those that gave Norman support over the last few years, especially the staffs at Oakleaf Village and Epworth United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23 at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania with the funeral immediately following.  Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made Epworth United Methodist Church or to donor’s choice.
