Norma Jean (Wells) Briggs

Norma Jean Briggs, 87, passed away on November 2, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  She was  born in Ottawa Lake, MI on November 21, 1935, the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Feeney) Wells.  She graduated from Blissfield High in 1953 and went on to marry her high school sweetheart James William Briggs, Sr. on April 14, 1956.  They spent 62 loving years together before Jim’s passing in 2018.   Together, Jim and Norma raised four children which kept them busy as both spectators and volunteers.  After raising her children, Norma reentered the workforce and was employed at the University of Toledo for 22 years.  She thoroughly enjoyed her job and all the people she encountered almost as much as she enjoyed being a Wife, Mom, Grandma and GiGi.  Norma was always up for an adventure, dining out, live music and most of all any time spent with family and friends.  She will be dearly missed and remembered for her kind, generous, selfless spirit.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Norma is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents and son Jim Jr.  Left to cherish her memory are her children Pam (Paula), David (Danielle), Daniel, and daughter-in-law, Anita Briggs; grandchildren Ryan (Katie) Briggs, Erin Tower, Gwendolyn and Audrey Briggs; great-grandchildren Aiva and Madelynn Tower and Edison Briggs and her si ster-in-law Betty Carmichael.                  Visitation will be at the Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, on Tuesday, November 7th from 10:00AM to 12:00PM where funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM.                                                                   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association.
