Mildred “Millie” Dvorsky, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 13, at Hospice of NW Ohio, with her granddaughter by her side. She was born on August 30, 1925, in Evarts, KY to A.Z. and Florida Kelly. Later, after becoming orphaned as a young child, she moved to Toledo, OH with her beloved older brother, Willis, to be raised by Hassie Smith, who was like a mother to her. Millie would go on to lose her brother, at the age of 16, to a tragic accident in downtown Toledo. She experienced much loss throughout her life; yet she was a smart, wise, and giving woman with an incomparable work ethic and independent streak. Strong in her faith, she was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years; and was a former member of The Order of the Eastern Star, May Elliott Chapter, No. 355. During World War II, Millie worked in the factories, as did so many women, while struggling to also raise her young son. She shared that on Christmas Eve, 1945, her prayers were answered when her husband, Arvel, walked through their door! She was employed by the former Peters Stamping Co. of Perrysburg, OH; and the Jeep Corp., where she retired in 1982. One of her favorite roles was to test drive the Jeeps through Toledo! She also loved traveling and she and her second husband traveled over much of the U.S.; and, also visited Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Millie was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Tollison; first husband, Arvel Tollison; second husband, Henry Dvorsky; parents; and six siblings. She is lovingly survived by granddaughter, Tami (Joe) Matthews; great-grandchildren Nicole Matthews; A.J. (Angelina) Matthews; Kaylyn Matthews, and Zachary Matthews; and great-great grandchildren Zofia and Helena Matthews-Derrer; and Anthony Matthews. Visitation at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022, 11 A.M., until services begin at 1 P.M., burial to follow at Toledo Memorial Park. In keeping with Millie’s spirit of giving, in lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation in her memory to Toledo Humane Society or Hospice of NW Ohio.
