Michael (“Mike”) James Maidlow, age 57 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday May 4, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him. Born on December 14, 1968, he was the oldest son of Kathleen and James Maidlow. Mike was a 1987 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He was a painter, as well as a member of Union Local 7. Being 6’ 6 1/2”, he was known for being able to “cut in at the ceiling, without a ladder.” Mike was a devoted husband to his wife Lesley and a loving father to his three children; Lilli, Valerie and Blake. Mike valued his time with his children, doing art with Valerie, fishing with Blake and the love of water with Lilli.
Mike will always be remembered for his incredible sense of humor and unmistakable laugh—one that you could pick out of a crowd. He possessed a rare gift for friendship, maintaining a large and loyal circle of friends who knew they could always count on him to make them laugh. To know Mike was to have a friend for life; if you met him, you definitely wouldn’t forget him. Being a natural-born artist, He loved to draw and paint and was certainly gifted at both. His easygoing nature and warm spirit made him the life of the party. Whether he was golfing or cheering for Notre Dame, he always knew how to enjoy life. Mike was a beloved son, brother, and friend. He valued his family and friendships deeply, and in return, he was someone they could always rely on.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Lesley; his children, Lilli, Valerie, and Blake; his brothers Mark Maidlow (Cate) and Dan Maidlow (Stephanie); his nieces and nephew Audrey, Gracie and Reece; his brother-in-law Jason Roehl (Niki) and mother-in-law Connie Roehl. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, James and Kathleen Maidlow, and his father-in-law, Larry Roehl.
