Melvin Raines Obituary

Melvin “Buc” Raines, 83, of Toledo, OH, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021. He was born in Chillicothe, OH. March 29, 1938, to parents Valendingham and Marie (Miller) Raines. Buc was employed with the DuPont for 8 years and retired from Chrysler after more than 30 years of service in 1998. He was proud to have served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Buc enjoyed time spent with his family, fishing, and completing jig saw puzzles.

He is survived by daughters Nancy Raines, Debi Grigson, Michelle Bashaw, Aimee Rupp, and Angela Rupp. His sons Mark Raines and Daniel Rupp; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Brewer; and brother Valendingham Raines Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife Mary Rupp; and son Paul Raines.

At Buc’s request there will be no service of visitation. Those wishing to offer memorials are asked to consider The American Cancer Society.

Melvin Raines was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who would do anything for his family. He will be missed.
