On Saturday December 23, 2023, Melvin Eugene Briskey, 85, of Luna Pier, Michigan passed away peacefully, departing this life for his heavenly home in the early morning at the Lakes of Sylvania, after a long battle with congestive heart failure. His beloved wife Mary (Adams) and family were at his side.
Melvin is survived by his wife, three children: Michael (Jane), Marvin (Andra), and Beverlie (Jamie Currier); seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Jared Hair), Mathew (Megan), Susan (Cornell Bolding), Mikayla, Rebecca, Andrew, and Steven; two great grandchildren: Karin and Harper; and his brother, Donald (Lynn). Melvin was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Virginia (Towsley) Briskey and his brothers Albert, Daniel, Michael, and a baby brother who succumbed to SIDS.
Melvin attended Blissfield High School and began his professional life at Sharon Manufacturing before starting a thirty-year career at Dana Corporation. After a brief retirement, Melvin embarked on a 37- year second career owning and operating the Luna Pier Harbour Club. Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and playing golf and would willingly share stories of his adventures. He was a past Grand Knight and fourth degree Knight of Columbus at St. Anthony’s Parish in Monroe, Michigan, and a member of The Ottawa Lake Sportsman’s Club. In his more active years, Melvin enjoyed spending wintertime at Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda, Florida.
