Melinda A Morningstar, 55, of Erie, MI passed away on March 30, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Toledo, OH on February 8, 1970 to Michael and Carol (Currie) Morningstar. She married Jason A Ruffier on August 5th, 2000. She was a graduate of Waite High School. Melinda was very creative and enjoyed anything artistic, including crocheting, sewing, painting, music, and gardening. She was a nature lover and loved days spent out with family, and walks outside with her cat Jake. But most of all, her greatest pride and joy was being a mother, wife & soon to be grandma.
Melinda is survived by her loving husband and soulmate, Jason; children, Michael, Timothy, Jason (Krishana), Morgan (Dylan) Jahns, Lyndsay, and Sarah; one granddaughter on the way, Violet Stella; mother, Carol Morningstar-Meece; sisters, Christine (Marc) Fuller and Denise Morningstar; mother-in-law, Marilyn Ruffier; brothers-in-law, Gary (Kristina) Ruffier, Richard (Sue) Ruffier and Marvin Ruffier; sister-in-law, Karilyn (Marc) Hartz, many beloved nieces and nephews and her special cat, Jake and dog, Jasmine. Melinda was preceded in death by father, Michael Morningstar, nephew, Marvin II Ruffier and father-in-law, Richard Ruffier.
Melinda is remembered as the most caring and loving mother that her children could have ever asked for; the most passionately devoted wife to her husband; and the most selfless, strong & kind person you could have ever met.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 3rd, 2025 from 4pm until 8pm at Reeb Funeral Home. This is also where the funeral service will be held on Friday, April 4th, 2025 at noon. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. The family requests that any donations be made for ovarian cancer research through The American Cancer Society.
