Matthew Knavel

Matthew Knavel was born March 30, 1990, and spent his childhood living at home with his family. He
became part of the Sunshine family in 2006. Matt enjoyed his one on one time with his staff, being
outside in the grass, and his outings to outdoor concerts, parks, and the art museum. Matt enjoyed
being included in most activities with his staff. Matt loved a Slinky, having it in his hand constantly, and
needing it replaced when it was lost or broken.
Matt particularly enjoyed a trip to Kelley’s Island, including the boat ride there, and being outside. Matt
appreciated his quiet space, and was often calmed by being in his waterbed and relaxing. Matt had a
sense of humor and would occasionally tease his staff to get their attention.
Matt is survived by his mother, Cynthia Knavel, and sister, Brandy Hubley. Matt is also loved and missed
by his family at Sunshine Communities. A memorial service will be planned at Sunshine Communities at
a later date.
