Mary Hoffmann Obituary

 

Mary Jo Hoffmann, 80, a lifelong Sylvania resident, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at the Promedica Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania. She was born, in Sylvania, in the living room of her parents Ralph and Isabelle (Schmidt) Smith’s home. Mary Jo attended the former Guardian Angel Day School, now the Saint Joseph Parish School. She went to Burnham High School for one year and graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus, OH. Mary Jo became a Registered Nurse and worked at St. Anne Hospital. She married Eugene Hoffmann July 16, 1966, and everyone celebrated with Buckeye Beer, complements of Uncle Leo.

Devoted to her family, Mary Jo volunteered at many of her children’s school events, cheered at countless competitions and put love into all of her baked goods, especially at the holidays.

Mary Jo is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Eugene “Gene” Hoffmann; children Steven (Lisa) Hoffmann, Elaine Dickendasher, Ralph (Amy) Hoffmann, and Benjamin (Kelli) Hoffmann, grandchildren Lindsey, John, Paul, Chris, Matthew, Jacob, Brandon, Lauren, and Andrew; great grandchild Abigail, and one soon to arrive (Hudson Mattie Rae); sister Catherine Smith Bell; son in law Tyler Ressler; and a host of four legged friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Isabelle Smith; daughter Monica Ressler; son in law Matthew Dickendasher; sisters Marie Parker, Helen Parker Smith, and Loretta Smith Crown; brothers Harold, Robert, Kenneth, and Lawrence Smith.

Mary Jo will return to the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania where she has been a faithful lifelong member. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 9:30 AM. Monday, April 5th where the Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery at the conclusion of Mass.
