Mary Ellen Fisher, of Toledo. OH, passed away August 31, 2024, at Kingston of Sylvania just six days after her 90th birthday. She was born August 25, 1934, in Centerville, TN to Percy W. and Lucille (Cannon) Morgan. She married William D. Hurst in the mid 1950’s and together they began raising their four sons until William’s untimely passing at the age of thirty-seven.
Mary later married again in 1972 to Richard W. Fisher enjoying 28 years together until his passing in 2000.
She was employed at the Toledo Hospital for 23 years in the dietary department and after her retirement went onto work at McDonalds for 5 years.
Mary enjoyed crocheting and loved an enjoyable conversation with everyone she was around and a longtime member of VFW post 9656, Peal Rd. Ottawa Lake, MI. An avid animal lover particularly dogs, she will be missed by her canine companion Chole. Mary’s happiest times were those spent with family, who she deeply loved.
Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her four sons, Danny (Debra), Darrell (Karen), Gary (Teresa), and Greg (Beth) Hurst; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, sisters, Virgie, Annie May, Martha Nel, and brother Rickey.
She was preceded in death by her husbands and sister Lorraine.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH, Thursday, September 5, from 3pm to 7pm with the Funeral Service beginning at 7pm. A private interment will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park at a later date. Those wishing to give a memorial can be given to the Donor’s Choice.
