Mark A. Swenson, 70, of Erie, MI, passed away suddenly at the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI, Friday, January 5, 2024. He was born July 17, 1953, to parents Daune R. and Marjorie A. (Lundgren) Swenson. Mark was employed as a welder with the former Defiance Testing and Engineering Company for 30 years before retiring. He could and would talk for hours about mechanics and work in general. Mark loved history and would be found reading or researching wars. He was especially interested in the Civil War. He and Jill wound go to the re-enactments of the civil war every summer and collect of memorabilia from that time period.
Mark has been together with his wife Jill (Krotzer) Swenson for more than 45 years and is survived by sisters Dauna (Walt) Howerton, Sara (David) Anderson, and Amy Swenson; a host of nieces, nephews. Mark and Jill never had children of their own but, Madison and Jessica Miller were his nieces/grandchildren. He would spend hours teasing the girls. Finally, his faithful K-9 companion Kaboom. He was preceded in death by his parents. At Marks request there will be no service or visitation. Those wishing to offer memorials, in lieu of flowers, are asked to consider the Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
