Born Marion Archer March 15, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio, Marion Sullivan passed away peacefully Friday, October 25, 2024, with her family by her side. She grew up in South Toledo with her brother Tom and beloved sister Helene. Marion had one son, Jim, from a previous marriage. She married George Sullivan, who had daughters Patty and Georgia. George and Marion had three children together – Michael, Phyllis, and Mary. They lived in Sylvania, Ohio in a home George built on Elden Drive, where the family was very much a part of the Sylvania community, along with vacations such as camping in upper Michigan. Marion worked for several years at Owens-Illinois as an auditor in the tax department. Marion was a devout Lutheran, and she and her husband helped establish King of Glory Lutheran Church on Brint Road, where they were very active, and with fellow churchgoers as their close friends. She loved music, loved to play the organ and spent much of her life trying to master it. Marion and George moved in1993 to their dream home (naming it Treetop) on Bird Lake, near Hillsdale, MI, and spent many pleasant years there. They often had family up to the lake for fun, birthdays and holidays. George and Marion loved their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, looking forward to their visits. She was affectionately known to them as Grandma or Nonnie. Marion lived at the lake another 10 years after George passed away. She continued doing her “frontier woman” chores by herself - raking leaves, mowing her two acres on George’s John Deere riding lawnmower, keeping the house up, moving large stones around to make a garden. She enjoyed her wonderful neighbors at the lake, who kept a close eye on her. Marion moved back to Sylvania in 2016 to be closer to family, and eventually into Oakleaf Village, where she spent her remaining years. She was preceded in death by her husband George, her brother Tom and sister Helene, her first son James (Lola) Brown, son Michael (Patricia) Sullivan, stepdaughter Patricia (Larry) Soldwish and their daughter Kathryn Soldwish, and great-grandson Josh Barnes.
She is survived by her stepdaughter Georgia Steele, daughters Phyllis (Jon) Dwyer, Mary Sullivan; daughter-in-law Pat (Mike) Sullivan; grandchildren Peggy (Matt) Ward, Jane (John) Barnes, Gwendolyn Steele, Carla (Christy) Fey-Steele, Ian Sullivan, Kelly Sullivan, Ryan Sullivan, Skip Brown, Jim Bob Brown, Paul (Amanda) Dwyer, Stephen (Trisha) Dwyer; great-grandchildren Jacob Barnes, Patrece Gibson, Isabella Dwyer, William Dwyer, Oliver Dwyer, Claire Dwyer, Jack Gorny; great-great grandchildren Levi and Taten Gibson.
