Marion Fowler Obituary

Marion F. (Majchszak) Fowler, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on December 10, 1927, and raised in Toledo, Ohio, she was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. She lived a life filled with faith, love, and generosity.
Marion’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her four children: Martha (Bill) Ahleman, Anne (Tom) Scott, Peter (John Nowland) Fowler, and Stephen (Denise) Fowler. She was a proud grandmother to Jason (Ramona) Ahleman, Megan (Kelli) Ahleman-Burkinshaw, Lucas (Casey) Fowler, Jessica (Chris) Murphy, Kalynn (Kevin) Plastino, MacKenzie (Brandon) Bergeron, and Zachary Fowler. Her legacy continues through her nine cherished great-grandchildren: Dannielle, Edward, Grace, Solea, Lily, Bentley, Kayley, Sonora, and Nadine, with two great-grandsons arriving this summer. She adored her ever-growing family.
During her professional life, Marion took pride in her work and the connections she built along the way. She held positions at Sylvania Savings Bank and Jacobson’s department store, where she was known for her warmth, reliability, and kindness. Even after retiring, she continued to give back, dedicating over 25 years as a volunteer at Flower Hospital, as well as volunteering at St. Anne’s. She also spent 30 years delivering meals for Meals on Wheels alongside her dear friend Nancy Armstrong. Her generosity and commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on those she encountered.
Faith was the foundation of Marion’s life. A dedicated member of St. Joseph Church in Sylvania, she served as a Sunday school teacher, lector, Eucharistic minister, and member of the funeral choir, among many other contributions to the church community. Her unwavering devotion to her faith and church touched countless lives.
Marion’s home was always filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of homemade meals. She had a passion for cooking, baking, and entertaining, creating countless cherished memories for family and friends alike. She also found joy in playing cards, especially Bridge and Euchre, where her sharp mind and competitive spirit shone. Marion also had a passion for golfing and played for many years in a league at Whiteford Valley Golf Course. She found joy in the game, making lasting friendships along the way.
Marion was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, Robert K. Fowler, her parents Tony and Martha Majchszak, and her stepmother, Helen Katafias. She shared a deep and lifelong bond with her siblings, Ralph, Beatrice, and Joseph, all of whom have passed, and treasured their closeness throughout their lives. She was also a devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews and their families, embracing them with love and warmth.
Above all, Marion’s family was her greatest treasure. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of Marion’s life will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania, Monday March 24, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. until the Funeral Mass begins at 12:00 P.M..
