Marilyn T Durfee

Marilyn T. Peterman-Durfee passed away on December 25th at Hospice of NWO. Marilyn was 84 years old and was born on March 31, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio to James and Phyllis Osberger. She attended St. Hedwig Elementary and graduated from Woodward HS in 1958. Marilyn married John Peterman in 1958 and raised four children in Sylvania, Ohio. She was a stay-at-home mother and after 30 years of marriage, John passed away in 1988. Marilyn remarried in 1990 to Ben Durfee until his passing in 2000.

Marilyn had many friends and was a proud Polish Princess. Mom had a good sense of humor and was not shy in her opinions of people, places and things. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania since 1971 and made numerous lifelong friendships with the parents of her children’s CYO sports teammates. She was also a member of Sylvania C.C. for 15 years and often spoke of the good times and friendships her and dad enjoyed. Mom was an excellent cook and was known for her pies and wonderful Christmas meals.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Lori (Alan) Michalak, John “Sonny” (Mary) Peterman, Kirk Peterman, and sister, Helen Barber. Mom was preceded in death by her son, Eric Peterman in October 2023. She is also survived by her 8 Grandchildren, Hannah (Shawn) Walters, Ian (Jamie) Michalak, Alyson (Anthony) Schliep, Kate (Charles) Larson, Sarah Fraggis, Jack Peterman, Jessica (Adam) Spencer, and K.J (Amanda) Peterman. 10 Great Grandchildren also survive her.

There will be no visitation and burial will be private. We request any donations go to the Toledo Humane Society.
