Marilyn C. Davoll Pinkelman
August 8, 1930-May 18, 2026
Our loving, sweet matriarch passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026 at the grand age of 95 surrounded by her family.
She was born to Bernice and Harley Taylor on August 2nd, 1930 in Sylvania, Ohio on a chicken farm on Brint Road. She graduated from Sylvania High School in 1948 and married Howard Davoll in that same year on July 3. Marilyn and Howard raised three children, Denise Gisler (Donald), Dennis Davoll (Cheri), and Dawn Paulsen (Scott). The family continued to live on the same land where she was born. Marilyn worked at Tiedtke’s, was a cook at the Village Inn and was lovingly known as the “Soup Lady” at Sautter’s Grocery Store in Sylvania where she worked for many years before retiring.
Marilyn and Howard valued family life and spent time with their children and grandchildren. They enjoyed camping and travel and were always with friends and family. The Davolls were charter members and always active at the Sylvania Moose. They were married 48 years until Howard passed in 1996.
Many years later she married Robert Pinkelman and continued to bless the family with her sense of humor and desire to make people feel loved and cared for. At this time, she was confirmed into the Catholic Church and liked going to Mass with Bob. She continued to grow in her faith for the rest of her life, and she was a member at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was married to Robert for 10 years before his passing.
At that time, Marilyn moved to Mayberry Apartments. She enjoyed living independently and had many precious friends there. She joined in for daily coffee, participated in group gatherings for dinner, played bunko and watched Wheel of Fortune with her friends. Her daughter, Dawn, son-in-law, Scott, son, Dennis, and daughter-in-law, Cheri visited or called on a daily basis to make sure she always had everything she needed and to keep her updated on her nine grandchildren: Heather Cruz (Vill), Justin Davoll, Corey Davoll (Tashina), Samantha Marvin (Brian), Joshua Paulsen and Jacob Paulsen, and six great-grandchildren: Rebecca Massey (Zachary), Benjamin Cruz, Ruby Cruz, Alyssa Marvin, and Dylan Marvin.
Throughout her life, family and friendships were always the main focus. Over food and simple get-togethers, our family has been blessed with the best matriarch who guided us to do the best we can with what we have and to always leave with a hug and a smile. We will miss her tremendously and are truly grateful for her lifelong love and care for us.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Bernice and Harley Taylor, brother, Paul Taylor, sister-in-law Kit Taylor, sister, Sue Nichols, brother-in-law John Nichols, oldest daughter, Denise Gisler, son-in-law, Donald Gisler and son-in-law, Thomas Hackler.
The Lord bless you, and keep you.
The Lord keep his face shine on you and be gracious to you.
The Lord turn his face upon you and give you peace.
