Tragically taken too soon from this life, Marcia Van Druten passed away in her home on April 15, 2026.
Born on January 31, 1958, to Clarence "Coak" and Dolores Zielinski, Marcia grew up the middle child of three girls and attended Christ the King School before graduating in 1976 from Central Catholic High School, where she met her husband, Tony Van Druten.
After earning an Associate Degree in Nursing, Marcia went on to become a Respiratory Therapist where she touched countless lives at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center for more than 35 years.
With a life that revolved around her family, Marcia never let challenging hospital hours keep her from arranging family gatherings and tropical trips with her daughters, Krista and Kinsey. Family was priority. Perhaps subconsciously she knew that her time on this earth would be shorter than expected, which is why she loved as hard as she did. Her sole purpose of retirement was to spend as much time as possible with her grandchildren, Stella, Hank, and Hayes. “Nammy” was more than a grandmother - she was a teacher, a cheerleader, a caregiver, an adventurer, and a coveted friend. She was with her grandchildren more hours than she wasn’t and their loss of Nammy will be deeply felt forever, as will all the lessons she taught them.
Marcia saw the potential in everyone, even when they didn’t see it in themselves. She was a fierce advocate for her daughters and the protector of her family. Given the second chance, we know she would live her life in exactly the same way. May her lifelong way of living – treating others as you’d like to be treated - stay with each and every person who learns the story of her life and how she was taken from it.
She is survived by her husband Tony; daughters Krista (Kurt) Glenn and Kinsey Van Druten; sisters Debra (Philip) Collette and Linda Borrell; grandchildren, Stella Glenn, Hank Glenn, and Hayes Van Druten; nieces Deidre (Stephen) Burger and Lauren (Angie Kim) Borrell; and nephew Lucas (Crystall) Collette. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and her father- and mother-in law, Carl and Edwina Van Druten.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 1pm to 7pm on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main Street in Sylvania, where the Rosary will be recited at 6pm. A funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main St. in Sylvania, will begin at 11am on Thursday, April 23. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Cemetery.
The family would like to extend special thanks to friends, loved ones, and the community for their outpouring of love and support during this tragedy.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation in Marcia’s name to the Dodrill Foundation for Personalized Oncology, a cause that reflects her journey and strength as a breast cancer survivor. Through this foundation, her legacy of resilience and compassion will continue to bring hope, guidance, and access to care for others facing cancer, honoring the courage with which she lived and the love she so freely gave.
