Luelva M. (Jones) DeLaney, 90, of Toledo, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 5, 2021, while in the loving care of Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania. She was born in Sylvania, Ohio, to John “Art” and Elva (Prince) Jones. Luelva was a 1948 graduate of Burnham High School. She was employed with Toledo Scale, Topps Department Store, and Pilliod, in Swanton, Ohio. Luelva was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Indian, and Cleveland Browns fan. She could often be found gardening, working on puzzles, and swinging on her swing. Luelva loved playing board games, and cards while sending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters Janet Vasvery, Kathleen (John) Junkins, Amy (Rob) Dumond, and Julie DeLaney; sons Jack, Jeff, and Chris DeLaney; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. Luelva was preceded in death by her husband Jack L. DeLaney; sisters Clara Strouse, Helen Mufford, and Anna Marie Benner;
and brothers Carl “Eddie”, Phillip A., and Charles W. Jones. Also her son, Michael DeLaney.
Friends may gather at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 E. Broadway St, Maumee, Ohio, Monday, January 11th at 10:00 AM. where the Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 5725 Hill Avenue, Toledo, OH.
The family would like to thank our Mother’s best friend of almost sixty years, Florence “Dolly” Matney. You have always been a loving caring friend who would talk to our Mom for hours and supported her through many tough times. Thanks for being there for our entire family.
The family would like to request that those attending the service wear bright colors at our mother’s request. She wanted her life to be celebrated, not mourned.
